About Ms. Ecker:

Ms. Amity Ecker has been the Theatre Arts teacher and director at Grossmont High School since 2002. With the help of her fantastic students, the Foothiller Players have successfully closed over 30 marvelous shows and are excited to put up at least 30 more! Ms. Ecker feels fortunate that she is able to share her passion for theatre with so many wonderful young people everyday.

 

Ms. Ecker is the proud recipient of the coveted GHUSD Golden Apple award (twice!) and at the start of her career, was named San Diego County’s Rookie of the Year by the San Diego Educational Theatre Association. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Theatre Arts from the University of San Diego and holds a Masters Degree in Theatre Arts from San Diego State University. Additionally, Ms. Ecker is an adjunct faculty member at Cuyamaca College.

 

When not teaching,  she enjoys spending time with her two children, Ava (GHS c/o 2026 and Lucy (7th grade). She also loves practicing yoga and traveling. Additionally, Ms. Ecker is a commercial and voice over actress.
